Valorant’s popularity is increasing day by day, with more new players joining the game daily. Among those players, many haven’t played tactical FPS games ever. For those newcomers, I’ll be discussing 7 Valorant tips for beginners you must follow if you are new to the tactical FPS gaming world. Let’s get into it.
Valorant is a 5v5 tactical first-person shooter (FPS) made by Riot Games that has two teams of five players fighting one another. Now the players have to coordinate well enough with each other and try to win a total of thirteen rounds against the enemy teams. The fun fact is that Valorant also contains a ranking system and goes from the top being Radiant to Iron.
Learn the Basics
When you first start the game, go to practice range, get comfortable with the basic mechanics like aiming, movement and shooting. Practice in the shooting range or with bots to improve your accuracy and reaction time.
After spending time with bots, play some deathmatches where you will be fighting against the real players. It’ll help you to get better for upcoming matches. When you mastered movement, aiming and shooting. Go give a try in Unrated gamemode, this is where the real fun begin.
Knowing Which Weapon to Use
Weapon plays an important role in every tactical shooter games. You need to know when to use which weapon. In first round,
If your aim is good, if you have the confidence you can use Sheriff, otherwise you can buy a Ghost to start the round. After finishing first round, you can use marshal if you are a sniper, or if you have enough cash you can buy outlaw too. If you wanna rush and fight from close range you can either buy a Spectre or Bulldog.
After 3-4 Rounds, most people buy Phantom or Vandal. But which one is for you? Phantom is good for spree and Vandal is good for tap tap shots. So the choice is yours, you wanna tap enemy in the head? Or spree the enemy till it’s death.
If you are a good sniper one shot your enemy the moment you see him, go for Operator. But if you are someone who is lowkey and want to surprise the enemy out of nowhere buy a Judge and camp.
Learn The Map
All of the maps in Valorant have unique features; knowing them well is hard. Go into custom games to learn the maps and all of their corner and remember key spots where people can camp. Not all maps are the same, Split may be less open while Ascent features more free-roaming spaces. Understanding this will help you to plan your strategy. While you explore these maps, make sure to learn common callout term used most frequently so when you spot an enemy you can tell your teammates easily where the enemy is located.
Communication is The Key
Valorant is all about team work. If your teammates don’t have good communication between them, you are going to lose the game most likely. As a Valorant player, make sure you have a microphone to communicate with your team by giving locations of enemies or by sharing strategies. Playing as a team is more important than playing solo. If you don’t have a microphone use the ping system to alert your teammates when you spot enemies.
Choose the Right Agent
As of 2024, Valorant has 24 agents each agents have their own unique abilities and roles. The agents are divided into four primary roles:
- Duelists: Duelists are the fraggers of the team, made for more aggressive roles and at-the-frontline action. For example Jett, Phoenix and Reyna.
- Controllers: These agents control the map by blocking vision, creating opportunities for their team. Controllers include Brimstone, Viper, and Omen.
- Initiators: These agents are responsible for setting up plays by forcing enemies out of position or gathering crucial information. Examples are Sova, Breach, and Skye.
- Sentinels: Sentinels are defensive experts, focusing on locking down sites and protecting their team. Sage, Cypher, and Killjoy are part of this role.
Try various agents to find out what’s best for your playstyle. If you are the kind who likes to lead from in front be a Duelist. For a slower pace, you might want to give the likes of either Controller or Sentinel. Understanding what each agent is strong at and their flaws will allow you to capitalize on both in using your own abilities while identify where they may be vulnerable when facing other agents.
Using Abilities Wisely
From other tactical FPS shooting games Valorant is kind of different. Agents abilities does matter a lot here beside gun fights. You need to be skilled both in gun fights also in using abilities. You should use them strategically to get advantages in game. But make sure you do not waste abilities nor you save all your abilities for later. Use your abilities when needed. For example, you can use Reyna or Phoenix flashes while rushing, that will blind if any enemies are there and will help you taking them out. Abilities need to work towards your strategy ideally not the only thing you rely on.
Conclusion
The more you play Valorant the better you understand the game. But like said improve comes along only with practice and patience. Don’t stick with one single agent, try different types of agents, understand them. That will help you predict what opponents agent can do in certain situations. When you start your game for the first time in a day, try to practice in range for atleast 20 minutes and play 1 or 2 Deathmatch before jumping into Ranked game. For more blogs like this click here.
